More Than Schools: Supporting Communities Across Saskatchewan

More Than Schools: Supporting Communities Across Saskatchewan

March 24, 2026 News 0

At Computers for Schools+ Saskatchewan (CFS+ SK), many people know us for helping schools access refurbished computers.

But helping schools is only part of the story.

Across Saskatchewan, we’re also working alongside nonprofits, charities, and community organizations—helping them better serve the people who count on them every day.

And soon, our name will reflect that.

Starting March 31, we’ll be known as Computers for Success—a name that better captures the full impact of this work.

Supporting the Organizations That Support Others

Every day, community organizations step in where help is needed most. They support newcomers, families, youth, and people facing health or financial challenges.

But many of these organizations are working with limited resources.

That’s where refurbished technology can make a real difference.

Organizations like Regina Open Door Society and Regina Early Learning Centre come to us for computers—not just for their staff, but for the people they serve. A computer can help someone apply for a job, attend online classes, or stay connected to their community.

Sometimes, a computer helps an organization run its programs.

Other times, it goes directly into the hands of someone who needs it most.

A Tool for Connection, Learning, and Independence

We’ve seen how powerful that can be.

In one case, a client who had undergone brain surgery lost the ability to speak. With the help of a computer, she was able to communicate again with her family.

That’s more than access to technology. That’s connection, dignity, and independence.

And it’s happening across the province.

We’re proud to work with organizations like:

  • Hope’s Home
  • YWCA and YMCA
  • Carmichael Outreach
  • Rainbow Youth Centre
  • Learning Disabilities Association of Saskatchewan
  • Wascana Rehabilitation Centre
  • Local volunteer fire departments and childcare centres

Many of these groups are small, community-based, and operating on tight budgets. But their impact is huge—and with the right tools, they can do even more.

Reducing Barriers, Reducing E-Waste

Every computer we refurbish and redistribute has a second life—and a second purpose.

It keeps usable technology out of the landfill while putting it into the hands of someone who needs it.

It’s a simple idea with wide-reaching impact: reuse technology to support people, communities, and the environment.

A New Name, the Same Mission

As we become Computers for Success, our mission stays the same—making sure people across Saskatchewan have the tools they need to learn, connect, and thrive.

Whether it’s a student in a classroom, a newcomer building a new life, or a community organization supporting families, access to technology opens doors.

And it’s something we can build together.
